There will be a mass casualty shooting drill at Western Technical College in La Crosse on Sunday afternoon near the Applied Technology Center "T" Building.

The drill, which will take place at Vine Street between 6th and 7th Streets from 1-4:30 p.m., is part of Western's Tactical Emergency Medical Support (EMS) course taught by Waukesha County Technical College staff.

Event organizers say the course integrates military and emergency medicine into SWAT teams and high threat police responses such as active shooter situations, similar to what happened at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, and the Boston bombing near the finish line of the marathon.

Students from all over Wisconsin will be participating in the drill.

The Medlink helicopter will land (weather permitting and not on a real call) between 3-4 p.m. at the Western Technical College Campus in parking lot D.
