A newly expanded wastewater treatment facility in Black River Falls is now up and running.
The Ho-Chunk Nation celebrated the opening today of the $10.4 million Wazee area Wastewater Treatment Facility.
The expansion couldn't have come soon enough. The old facility could only support about 20 more residential areas and no more commercial development leaving it impossible for the community to expand.
The new facility will help Ho-Chunk communities grow for at least the next 20 years.
“The facility design is actually to double the capacity its supported services for the local area around here. We're excited because that does allows us to put plans for expanding residential communities and even creating new communities,” said the president of the Ho-Chunk Nation Jon Greendeer.
The new facility also allows the ho chunk nation to expand its business district as well.
