MADISON, Wis. -

Did you get a bunch of emergency alerts on your cellphone this afternoon?

U.S. Cellular officials said they were conducting an upgrade when the FEMA alerts were sent to customers Monday afternoon.

“While conducting an upgrade of U.S. Cellular’s Wireless Emergency Alerts platform, a FEMA test alert was inadvertently broadcast to our customers across our entire footprint,” U.S. Cellular officials said in a statement.

Officials said the test will no longer be sent out.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and concern the test alert may have caused.”

Sauk and Dane county officials confirmed to News 3 the alerts were not coming from their systems.
