Breaking free from drug addiction and a life of crime is no easy task. However, a speaker at Viterbo University Monday night said it's possible with the right treatment.

Tonier Cain is featured in the documentary "Healing Neen." It shares her story after nearly 20 years of living on the streets that included multiple stints in jail, numerous drug experiences, and doing whatever it took to survive.

She says if people are given the chance to talk about the trauma they experience in their life, hope can return and they can find a better life. "It was somebody that finally asked me, 'Tonier, what happened to you,' instead of what is wrong with you, why can't you get it together, nobody ever asked me what happened, it was always what happened, why won't you get yourself together?," said Cain.

She says her Christian faith is also a major contributor in her healing.
