VERNON COUNTY, Wis. (WKBT) -

A Vernon County driver was transported to a local hospital after hitting a cow head-on Monday morning, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Eric Devine, 41, of Lavalle, was traveling west on County Highway V in the Town of Greenwood when a cow ran into the path of his vehicle. Devine hit the brakes, but was unable to stop and hit the cow head-on.

Devine was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was transported to St. Joseph’s Gundersen Health System Hospital in Hillsboro for treatment.
