Eight of the nine people injured in an Amish buggie crash late Friday night have been treated and released from the hospital, but one person will need additional surgery.
The Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department says a vehicle was going north on UW HWY 53/121 about 1/4 mile north of Dissmore Coulee Lane in the Township of Pigeon when it struck the back of a buggie traveling with nine people, causing several ejections and injuries. The crash happened at about 10:20 p.m.
Lydia Wengerd and the seven children have been released from the hospital, but the father, David Wengerd will need an additional surgery on his lower leg, the sheriff's department said. The family is from Osseo.
The sheriff's department says inattentive driving was a factor and the 19-year-old failed to yield to the slow-moving buggy.
