Wisconsin's colleges are teaming up to take on a business challenge this spring.
Nearly all the state's UW System schools are taking part in the Wisconsin Big Idea Tournament. It's a competition between campuses that allows students to pursue a business idea and create an entrepreneurial model for it. The tournament kicked off this week.
Organizers say it gives students the chance to break into the business world and learn something unexpected.
"What we find sometimes is we find great solutions to something that we weren't expecting, and that's kind of the idea behind the entire competition, is to start one place and maybe end up in a different place in terms of what business you actually pursue,” said Anne Hlavacka, director of UW-L’s Small Business Center.
UW campuses will face off against each other in the April competition. The winner will travel to Utah to compete on an international level in May.
