UW-L archaeology center names new director
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse's Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center named its new director on Monday.
Tim McAndrews will take over for Joe Tiffany on September 1. Tiffany is retiring on August 31, after working 11 years as the director of the Center.
McAndrews has directed the archaeological studies program at UW-La Crosse since 2010. He’s been with the UW-L Sociology/Archaeology Department since 2001.
McAndrews is an expert on the Tiwanaku civilization that developed in the Lake Titicaca Basin and spread through the South Central Andews of South America. He has directed multiple research sessions in the Bolivian highlands since 1994 and has engaged dozens of UW-L and Bolivian students into his international field school. McAndrews has also directed research in North America.
