Authorities say two people were hospitalized after a smoky fire that damaged at least three units at a condominium complex on the west side of Cedar Rapids.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department says firetrucks were dispatched a little before 730 p.m. Sunday to the Shamrock Condominiums building. Firefighters say flames and heavy smoke were coming from one unit, but they were able to put out the blaze fairly quickly.

A man who lived in the unit suffered smoke inhalation and some burns. Firefighters say the fire aggravated the medical condition of a woman who lives in a nearby unit. The department says their injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening.

No injuries to the 15 other residents of the complex were reported.
