The Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department is warning residents about a scam involving a seal coating company.

Authorities say people from "C and S Chip Seal" have been contacting residents door-to-door offering sealcoat driveways at a reduced rate. They claim to have extra material from a “county job" and they want to get rid of the extra product.

People who complained about the work tell the sheriff’s department reported inflated pricing, poor job quality, no warranty guarantee, no bills of sales or contracts.

Trempealeau County Sheriff Richard Anderson said if you’re contacted by a home improvement company, there has to be a work order filled out with an agreement on the work to be performed and cost.
