The La Crosse Area Hazmat Team was called out to a tractor fire involving a dangerous chemical this afternoon.
A tractor pulling more than 500 gallons of anhydrous ammonia started on fire, in a field outside Farmington. The chemical can be highly toxic to people if it's ingested. First responders were able to put out the fire before it reached the ammonia tank.
No one was injured, though tractor is a total loss. Firefighters at the scene estimate the damage to be about $500,000.
