With Memorial Day coming up, local school districts are showing their support through a 2-K walk with veterans.
The Tomah VA hosted the 4th annual "Walk and Roll" Wednesday.
It was started to encourage healthy activity while supporting homeless veterans.
Organizers say veterans rely on community donations in order to transition into jobs or living facilities.
"The caring and compassion that not only the employees, but the community has shown in the donations for the homeless veterans, it is like I said, the most positive experience and very... I feel very honored as a veteran also to see how big of hearts that the community has for veterans here," said program manager Gail Bertolino.
In the past, the 2-K has been extremely successful.
This year, their goal was to collect even more donations while including more participants.
