The Tomah Police Department is investigating what it's calling a case of burglary and arson at a fast food restaurant.
Early Thursday morning, around 1 a.m., authorities responded to a call of a fire at the Dairy Queen at 218 E. Clifton Street in Tomah.
It wasn't the actual restaurant on fire, it was an unattached storage building. The building is used to store business supplies for Dairy Queen.
Firefighters with the Tomah Fire Department put the fire out, and officials with the State Patrol and Monroe County Sheriff's Department closed Highway 12/16 nearby while the firefighting operation continued. The road opened again about an hour and a half later.
Officers later determined two freezers used for storing ice cream treats were forcibly entered.
Anyone with information about this incident should call Tomah Police at (608) 374-7400.
