Thousands of runners are braving the cold for a La Crosse holiday tradition.
More than 2,000 people met at UW-La Crosse Saturday morning for the 19th annual Turkey Trot.
The 5K run-walk organized by UW-La Crosse students is a chance for people to give back while burning a few calories before Thanksgiving.
Proceeds from the event help support to the Myrick Eco Park in La Crosse.
The annual race is a way for student organizers to support the local community while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
"We've got a great student population here. They get up at 6:45 in the morning to come out and volunteer. I think it's just something we can give back to the greater La Crosse community and getting runners out here, and walkers and just encouraging everyone to be active," said race organizer Erin Thacker.
Organizers hope to raise about $15,000 from the event.
