CLARK COUNTY, WI -

An 80-year-old woman died from her injuries from a Clark County multivehicle crash on Saturday.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says Betty Benzschawel, of Thorp, was injured and airlifted from the scene of a crash at the intersection of Broek Road and Tieman Avenue in the Township of Worden at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities say Alvin Benzschawel, 83, was going southbound on Tieman Avenue when he pulled into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by Waylon Copenhaver. Betty was the passenger in the vehicle that was struck. She died of her injuries late Thursday, September 5.

Alvin was transported by Thorp Ambulance for his injuries and Copenhaver received minor injuries but was not transported from the scene. Both Benzschwel’s were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Copenhaver was wearing his seatbelt.

This marks the 5th traffic fatality in Clark County in 2013.
