Onalaska city officials say they're close to finalizing plans to rebuild the intersection at Theater Road and Midwest Drive.

Recently, they updated the plan to include removing asphalt and raising the road, which added to the cost.

Officials say the intersection is consistently plagued with congestion and crashes.

Jarrod Holter, an engineer with Onalaska, says when the project is done, residents should notice a big improvement in traffic flow.

"The intersection we do get, we do get calls about the intersection presently and with the future traffic volumes that are projected, we feel that the public's really going to hopefully see the difference and access to that intersection," says Holter.

The city hopes to started construction March of next year and finish by July.
