Veterans and others in the community gathered at Western Technical College Wednesday to learn more about post traumatic stress disorder.
It's a disorder that impacts thousands of individuals on a daily basis. Often times, many connect the disorder to veterans, but it can be caused by a car crash, assault or any other traumatic experience. The keynote speaker says anyone can suffer from the disorder, but it's how you respond to it that helps the healing process. It's important to treat the symptoms, but it's just as important to help the individual rebuild their lives.
"It's kind of like your life gets broken apart in pieces and you find a way to take those pieces and build it into something new and that is what I focus on," said Silouan Green, the creator of the Ladder Upp.
Green has been helping people understand and overcome P.T.S.D for almost a decade.
