Five taverns in Racine have refiled a discrimination lawsuit against the city which claims officials conspired to drive minority bar owners out of the city.
A federal judge last month dismissed the plaintiff's original lawsuit, saying it was too vague. The bar owners claim Mayor John Dickert and other local officials were involved in an elaborate plot to bankroll the mayor's campaign while conspiring to drive minority tavern owners out of the city.
The amended complaint cuts out one bar owner from the list of plaintiffs and drops four defendants.
Deputy City Attorney Scott Letteney tells The Journal Times the city and other defendants now have 21 days to file a response to the complaint.
