LA CROSSE, Wis. -

It was a celebration of two decades of helping our community.

The St. Clare Health Mission has been working throughout La Crosse for the past 20 years.

It held a reception on Wednesday evening.

The organization provides healthcare for the poor and uninsured.

Since the clinic started, it has provided care for more than 16,000 patients, and it has grown in size and the number of services available, thanks to specialists volunteering their time.

"It's a gem in our community," says Sandy Brekke, the clinic director, "it's the best people in town coming and volunteering their time and talents to take care of the rest of the community that really need it."

More than 1,5000 people have volunteered time to help.
