La Crosse police are looking to expand their presence on social media as it continues to help solve crimes.
The tips didn't necessarily come through Facebook or Twitter, but police say it's a quick way to reach out for help. Between the two social media sites, there are more than 5,000 accounts seeing every post.
"To get that information out, and a lot of times we get responses back immediately from the public that they might know the person, you know if we send out a picture or if we are looking for a tip they might have that information immediately for us,” said La Crosse Police Lieutenant Pat Hogan.
Lt. Hogan said social media is just another tool and no more important than other options like Crime Stoppers.
