LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

Soccer fans were popping up everywhere Thursday, cheering on the U.S. Men's National Team in the World Cup.

For those not at work, a place you were sure to find good company was at Howie's in La Crosse. Some fans showed up right when they opened, an hour before game time.

"I actually traveled from Prarie du Chien up here today just to watch the game," said Nathan Raabe, who was the first fan in the building. "Nothing's like watching with friends though, [my friend] traveled from Waterloo, Iowa to come up here."

By providing a good atmosphere for fans, Howie's is raking in some good business.

"Probably about 100% more than we would normally do for a Thursday lunch, twice the sales," said Howie's General Manager David Thiel. "Loudest cheers I've heard here in a while, kinda like when the Badgers were making a Final Four run."

The U.S. did lose their match to Germany, 1-0, but still moved on to the Round of 16 thanks to a tiebreaker over Portugal. Their next match in the tournament will be Tuesday, July 1 against Belgium.

"We'll go to the elimination round, and we'll dominate there, too, whether it be Germany, Algeria...we'll take some Belgium. We'll win," said U.S. fan Dan Allen.
