SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) -

Sparta police announced that a man found guilty of second degree sexual assault of a child in 2001 will be released on April 1.

Clay G. Slater, 41, is a convicted sex offender who will live on Water Street in the downtown area in the City of Sparta.

In the past, Slater’s victims have been preteens and teen female relatives and acquaintances, Sparta police stated in a news release. Slater will be monitored by various forms of electronic devices. He will not be allowed to consume alcohol or drugs and is not allowed in bars, taverns or liquor stores. He also can’t have unsupervised contact with minors, police said.

“Community members should stay alert to his activities and report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement,” Sparta Police Chief Mike Kass said.
