LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin was in Westby Monday at the Cooperative Creamery.

Her visit comes as a one-trillion dollar farm bill was signed in to law earlier this month. The bill which Baldwin was a part of includes many reforms to help farmers deal with unexpected risks like weather or the price of feed.

Baldwin believes that signing of the bill will help more than just larger scale farms.

"We are very hopeful that it will provide fair and equitable treatment of smaller scale dairy farms like we find across the state of Wisconsin," said Baldwin.

Other parts of the bill include ending direct government payments to farmers and controlling how food is packaged and sold throughout the country.
