The La Crosse Salvation Army will be an overnight cooling center from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday to help people stay out of the heat.

The La Crosse County Public Health Department says people who would like to stay at the cooling center, 223 N. 8th Street, must check in from 6 to 10 p.m. and will be screened with a breathalyzer test.

Cots are provided, but people should bring bedding, the health department said.
