Salvation Army kicks off its annual Red Kettle Campaign
The Salvation Army bell ringing campaign kicked off Friday with a musical twist.
The UW-La Crosse Chamber Choir performed at Valley View Mall as bell ringers started the Red Kettle Campaign.
The Salvation Army hopes to raise $650,000 by the end of January.
This specific fundraiser is a big part of what the Salvation Army relies on throughout the year. "For fundraising, bell ringing is the biggest thing we do each year. It makes up about a quarter of our total income for the year. So it pays for everything we do all year long," said Major Paul Moore.
The Salvation Army is looking for 4,000 bell ringers at 28 locations around town during the holiday season.
