FOREST CITY, Iowa (AP) -

Recreational vehicle maker Winnebago Industries says it's expanding beyond its traditional motor home market into the transit bus business.

The Forest City, Iowa-based company says it is ready to market its Metro Link bus after several years of design and development.

The motor home and travel trailer manufacturer says its new bus with a one-piece fiberglass roof and frameless windows offers a quieter ride and lower maintenance than current transit buses.

Winnebago says it has partnered with Metro Worldwide of Garner, a distributor of commercial trucks to distribute its new bus line.

Winnebago company reported in March that it returned to a profit in its fiscal second quarter earning $6.3 million, or 22 cents per share as revenue jumped 35 percent.
