A public bus caught fire in Cedar Falls, forcing the driver and riders to scramble out of the vehicle as the rear burst into flames.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports seven riders were on the Metropolitan Transit Authority bus Thursday morning near the University of Northern Iowa campus when a rider noticed the fire.
Rider Tyler McKiney, of Waterloo, says the woman screamed, "Fire, fire, stop the bus."
The driver quickly pulled over and everyone rushed outside. The driver called for help on a CB radio, stretching the microphone cord outside to talk.
Cedar Falls firefighters extinguished the blaze, but it gutted the rear engine compartment.
Fire Chief John Paul Schilling says a fuel leak was likely to blame.
No one was injured.
