Student community volunteers recognized at special event

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Dozens of area students are recognized for work in the community.

More than 40 students from seven local school districts were honored Monday night at Viterbo University.

They were nominated by various educators in their schools for outstanding service to the community.

Also, a Viterbo student was given the President's Award for her outstanding service. "I love that fulfillment, I love being able to help other people and with helping other people helps myself," said recipient Alyssa Gray.

"And if they can have an impact now at this age, just think of what they can do for the rest of their lives," said Viterbo University President Rick Artman.

This is the 17th year of volunteer recognition at Viterbo.
