Heat after storms causes problems in Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) -- Stevens Point officials say the hot conditions Thursday following powerful thunderstorms earlier in the week have caused lingering problems to finish restoring electricity to some residents.

More than 215 separate outages remained Thursday morning. At one point, about 12,000 people were without power when a line of severe thunderstorms moved through the area on Tuesday night.

Wisconsin Public Service says that it's replaced 30 poles already and has had to deal with removing twisted tree branches in hard to reach areas. There's also area flooding that's caused delays.

WPS says it has 150 employees working to restore the remaining outages and hopes to have the power restored to everyone sometime on Thursday.
