2 men face drug charges after Prairie du Chien traffic stop

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (WKBT) - What started as a routine traffic stop in Prairie du Chien turned into two drug-related arrests.

On Friday at about 7:45 p.m., Prairie du Chien police pulled over Kyle C. Sohns, 32, of Milwaukee, for driving without his headlights on.

Police say when they approached the vehicle, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

Police arrested Sohns for operating while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Passenger Javone J. Smith, 22, of Milwukee, was also arrested for possession of marijuana (2nd offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they also issued municipal citations as a result of the stop.
