No one was injured when a train derailed from an apparent track washout near Ferryville early Thursday morning.

Of the five cars and two locomotives that were derailed one was an empty tank car that last carried ethanol and another was an empty tank car that last carried vegetable oil. The other derailed cars were loaded with wallboard.

Some of the 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel from a ruptured fuel tank leaked into the Mississippi River the BNSF said in a statement.

BNSF responders are on site and will be working with local and state officials.

When it is safe to get on the river BNSF will place boom in the river at the site of the incident and downstream to capture any diesel fuel.
