LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

A golf outing celebrated some of the La Crosse Police Officers' partners Monday.

The seventh annual Putt'N 4 Pooches Golf Outing is an 18-hole round of golf featuring the La Crosse Police Department's K-9 Unit. Ralph, Zaback, Brutus and Grumman all made appearances at the tournament.

Officers say their four-legged friends hold vital roles in the department.

"They do so much for our agency in so far as helping serve the community, as far as detection of narcotics, detection of explosives or gunpowder, so any number of things that these animals can help us out with,” said La Crosse Police Department Sergeant Tom Walsh.

All proceeds from the event go towards the K-9 Unit.
