The LGBT community is showing their pride this weekend around the La Crosse Area.
Pride Along the Mississippi is put on by the LGBT center.
People from all different backgrounds gathered on Saturday for a family picnic at Red Cloud Park in La Crosse.
The purpose of the picnic is to teach acceptance of LGBT members in the community.
But members of the LGBT community said the event is more than just a chance to share a meal.
"For us, we're an extended family. You know others in the LGBT community, and we do have others who join as well. So it's just important for us to get together and just like you do for a family reunion I think," said Pride Committee Chair Mikel Hampel.
There is also a special church service Sunday morning at Our Savior's Lutheran church in La Crosse.
