A Wisconsin Attorney General hopeful wants to create a new position to protect senior citizens.
Democratic candidate Jon Richards campaigned in La Crosse Wednesday.
He announced a proposal to create a senior citizen advocate within the state Justice Department. The person would work with local prosecutors and law enforcement throughout the state to protect the seniors from fraud and abuse.
"There are estimates that there are annually 5,000 cases of abuse in Wisconsin, and many of those cases go unreported or unprosecuted," said Richards.
Richards is one of four candidates running for attorney general.
The three democrats face off in a primary next month.
