LA CROSSE, Wis. -

Less than a day after signing the budget into law, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker made a swing through La Crosse.

The governor stopped at Western Technical College Monday afternoon to kick off his "Working for Wisconsin" tour. It's an effort to create jobs and develop the workforce to fill those roles. Funding for that is included in the new state budget which took effect Monday.

The governor says it's a good budget for the hardworking taxpayers. "About a billion dollars worth of tax relief over the next two years, more money invested in our schools, more choices in education, more invested in our work force development and our veterans, more help for our health care systems and mental health system and overall just a good budget for the people of Wisconsin," said Governor Walker.
