Gov. Walker to stop in La Crosse as part of 'Working for Wisconsin Tour'
Governor Scott Walker will stop in La Crosse Monday afternoon to kick off his "Working for Wisconsin" tour.
Governor Walker signed the $70 billion 2013-15 Biennial Budget Sunday in Pleasant Prairie. Walker's office says the budget provides about $1 billion in tax relief for Wisconsin families, $322 million in additional state aid for public schools, and $100 million investment in workforce development.
The budget went into effect on Monday.
"This is a great budget for the hardworking taxpayers of Wisconsin," Governor Walker said in a statement. "Our tough, but prudent, decisions mean we are now able to invest in our priorities, provide the largest income tax cut in 14 years, invest in worker training, and move people from government independence to true independence."
Governor Walker will stop in Green Bay and Chippewa Falls before coming to La Crosse. Over the next few days, Governor Walker will also travel to Appleton, Baraboo, Eau Claire, Hayward, Madison, Milwaukee, Rhinelander and Wausau.
