Political foes team up to help area kids
Politics seems to be more divided than ever, but two local political figures, one Democrat and one Republican, are coming together for the good of their community.
Julian Bradley, the La Crosse County Republican Chair, and Andrew Londre, a former Democratic County Chair, are teaming up to help kids in need. They are holding a toy drive for the La Crosse Jaycees Toys for Tots program.
The idea came up after Bradley wrote a letter to the La Crosse Tribune about leaders working together. Londre read it and reached out to Bradley about teaming up.
The two decided it was perfect timing given the last two years of intense campaigning in the state. "Now that its finally over, it's really time for us to come together in this community because we can all come together and do really good things," said Londre.
"The time for competition is over, the elections are over, it's been a very long 2 years here in western Wisconsin, people just want to see people come together for good, and that's what we're doing," said Bradley.
The "Together for Toys: A Bipartisan Benefit for Toys for Tots" goes through Friday, Nov. 30th.
You can drop-off toys at the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center on Rose Street in La Crosse. Drop off a new or gently used toy between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day.
The two say they hope to make this toy drive an annual tradition.
