Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul gained 83 votes on Saturday after one county in eastern Maine held its caucuses.

Washington County had delayed its voting one week ago due to bad weather.

The gain for the Texas congressman does not change the outcome of the Maine contest. After Washington County's voting, fellow GOP candidate Mitt Romney led Paul by 156 votes.

Romney has consistently led despite changes in the vote tally. Last Saturday, Maine Republican Party Chairman Charlie Webster declared Romney the winner over Paul by 194 votes. On Friday, the Maine GOP updated the caucus results by including some votes that were originally missing and correcting clerical and other errors in the tallies. The updated numbers showed Romney maintaining his win by a slightly bigger margin, 239 votes.

Webster told CNN there is a recommendation by a Maine GOP committee to the group's larger executive committee to include Washington County's vote results in a March 10 accounting.
