LA CROSSE, Wis. -

La Crosse's city council president will face a recall election.

City Clerk Teri Lehrke ruled Friday afternoon, there are enough sufficient signatures to trigger a recall against District 11 council member Audrey Kader.

The Restore La Crosse Committee originally filed the recall petition on November 16th.  They needed 158 valid signatures.  However, Kader filed a challenge to the petition saying some of the signatures came from invalid addresses and from outside of the district.

After reviewing the petition and Kader's challenge, Lehrke ruled only 104 signatures were valid.

Members of the Restore La Crosse Committee then corrected the addresses and dates associated with some of the signatures in question.  Lehrke ruled Friday the group had provided 169 qualifying signatures.

Nomination papers can be circulated once a date has been set for the recall election. Kader will be considered a candidate without nomination unless she resigns from office before January 2nd, 2013.
