A plan to have drivers pay to park in downtown La Crosse ramps is delayed.
The Parking Utilities Board recommended waiting until at least next year before the ramps start charging to park after a certain amount of time. The money will mostly be used for upkeep on the ramps.
Glitches in linking the pay stations to the computer system halted the implementation which was scheduled for this month.
A lengthy delay could be a problem for the city's budget. "The budget was projected to be already taking in income, so everyday we don't do it is a cost of income to the city, but on the other hand, it's important that it's done right," said the Chairperson of the Parking Utility Board Audrey Kader.
No date has been set and the fee structure hasn't been finalized yet.
The committee is also considering changes to payments on weekends and holidays.
