A union representative stated on Dec. 3 that the engineer who was involved in Sunday's New York train derailment apparently "was nodding off and caught himself too late" before the accident that killed four people and injured 67 others. Learn more about this deadly train derailment.

Injured victims were taken to several hospitals in New York. At St. Barnabas Hospital, doctors treated 12 patients, at least two of whom were in critical condition. One of the victims suffered a spinal cord injury that could leave him paralyzed from the neck down, said Dr. David Listman, director of the hospital's emergency department.
