City officials are moving closer to developing prime property between La Crosse and La Crescent.
At Tuesday night's Committee of the Whole meeting, officials unanimously agreed to a second inter-governmental agreement with the county for the Park Plaza Property located on Highway 14-61.
The agreement doesn't confirm the proposed development of a multi-family residential area. Instead, it means both governmental bodies agree with the re-zoning of the property to support the concept.
And that brings the property one step closer to development. "It's going to be tight, we're going to push it very hard if we get it done this year, and we're hoping for a closing date with the developer in August so he can start construction this year," said La Crosse Co. Planner Charlie Handy.
The La Crosse City Council and the County Board both have to vote again to approve the agreement.
