La Crosse city leaders accepted a special gift from their French sister city Sunday.
A delegation from Epinal, France, La Crosse’s sister city, was in town to present a painting Sunday afternoon.
The painting marks the 30th anniversary of the relationship between the two cities, dating back to the mid 1980s.
La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat says there is an important meaning behind the relationship.
"(It is) to make diplomats of all of us, and to bring the whole world together in peace and harmony,” Kabat said. “I'm sure you will all agree that the need for us to all come together as one people could not be more greater, and the timing could not be better. Here is to peace all across the world."
The painting will be displayed at the Myrick Center in La Crosse.
