WINONA, Minn. -

The Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge is inviting the community to be a part of its "paddling posse" to locate invasive species on the Mississippi River.

On Friday, June 7, Refuge Ranger Ed and Refuge Biologist Lisa Reid will search for water lettuce and water hyacinth near Buffalo City, Wisconsin.

The Refuge will provide canoes, paddles and lifejackets. Binoculars for bird viewing, a lunch and drinking water are recommended. The posse will depart from the Lower Spring Lake Landing and return to the landing by 2 p.m. The Spring Lake Landing is located near Buffalo, Wisconsin on South River Road at the Lock and Dam 5 embankment entrance.
