Onalaska School District weighs security upgrades
Onalaska students may notice some changes to their buildings this year, specifically upgrades to security.
The district budgeted $100,000 for that purpose, focusing on how people gain access to the buildings.
Changes would include locked entrances, camera and buzzer system, and panic buttons for a secretary to alert authorities to a problem.
Finance Director Larry Dalton says all of these changes are being done with the student in mind.
"In school, the biggest issue in terms of security is always students, it's not outsiders it's how we're going to manage our student population so all that has to be hand in hand with the student management part of it," says Dalton.
