ONALASKA, Wis. -

The Onalaska Police Department started a tip line at (608) 392-0228 that allows callers to report an incident in progress, give details on a crime that occur or may occur and leave drug-related tips.

If the caller is reporting an incident in progress, they will be transferred to the dispatch center. If callers provide information on a crime or a drug-related incident, the messages will be checked daily by supervisors.

Specific Tip Line options:

·         Press 1 to report an incident in progress/need immediate assistance;

·         Press 2 to provide information on a crime not in progress or that may occur;

·         Press 3 to leave drug related tips

"This is an excellent way for citizens to partner with law enforcement to keep our community safe," Onalaska Police Chief Jeff Trotnic said in a statement. "A big part of my philosophy on successful policing is maintaining close ties with the community and the tip line provides another line of communication between the citizens and the Police."
