ONALASKA, WI -

It's a more than three-decade-old Halloween tradition of scaring people in the community.

This is the 33rd year the Onalaska Jaycees have held their Shed of the Dead Haunted House in Onalaska.

This year's theme is Freak Show.

Members dress up in their scariest costumes waiting to scare guests as they walk through the house.

But it's not all about giving people a good scare, it also raises money for programs throughout the area.

Organizers say even the planning of the haunted house serves a significant purpose.

"It gives the kids something to do and teaches them skills, and career-building skills. That's what the Jaycees are all about.," said Shed of the Dead chairperson Cole Harold.

The haunted house is open this Halloween starting at 6:30 p.m.
