Onalaska Firefighters braved the humidity Saturday to raise money for a good cause hitting the streets for the annual "Fill the Boot" campaign.
The money raised will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help children and adults living with MDA.
For 60 years, the International Association of Fire Fighters has supported the fight against the muscle disease and the fight continued in Onalaska.
On Saturday firefighters took over three intersections at Festival Foods, Theater Road, and Second Avenue and Main, hoping to "Fill the Boot" a little more than last year.
"We raised about $10,000 last year for MDA, and per member that comes to roughly $1,200 per member that we raised,” said Corey Yonkovich, of the Onalaska Fire Department.
The Onalaska Fire Department is hoping to have this year's total by Tuesday.
Over the past several years, they have ranked in the top three among fire departments in the state when it comes to raising money during the "Fill the Boot" campaign.
