1890: Harland Sanders, the businessman and restaurateur better known as Colonel Sanders who founded the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant chain, is born in Henryville, Indiana. He died of complications from pneumonia and leukemia at age 90 on Dec. 16, 1980.
