1944: Anne Frank and her family are placed on the last transport train from the Westerbork transit camp to the Auschwitz concentration camp, arriving three days later. Frank and her sister, Margot, were eventually transferred to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where they died of typhus in March 1945. Pictured is a memorial to Anne and Margot Frank at the site of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.
